New England’s Future 2

Boxing comes (back) to the Palladium with New England’s Future 2

We’re almost done with March, and with April coming around the corner, the new month will bring some fresh entertainment to us here in the Boston area. In the sports world, we have not only basketball, but boxing has an upcoming event at the Palladium that fans can rejoice over.

After the success of the first New England’s Future event back in January, the next installment, titled New England’s Future 2, will take place this Saturday, April 1st at Worcester’s Palladium. The show will be presented by Rivera Promotions Entertainment, which is owned and operated by retired three-time, two-division world champion Jose Antonio Rivera and his son A.J. The headlining fight will be that of Pembroke cruiserweight Vinnie “American Nightmare” Carita (15-1-1, 14 KOs), who will be fighting Brazil’s light heavyweight champion Gilberto Matheus “El Magico” Domingos (22-6, 20 KOs). The co-featured fighter will be lightweight Matt “Sharp Shooter” Remillard (23-1, 13 KOs), going up against Agustine “Ruthless” Mauras (6-1-3, 3 KOs) from Lawrence.

Carita and Mauras aren’t the only Massachusetts natives fighting in Saturday’s event; Boston’s own heavyweight, Donnie “Big Nasty” Palmer (8-1-1, 7 KOs) from Dorchester, faces Alando Pugh (1-10-1, 1 KO) of Washington D.C., in a four-round match. Palmer made his debut in 2012 with a fight against Moses Marshall that ended in a draw. Palmer, who faced in uphill battle in 2014 when he was shot, had to cancel a major upcoming fight he had and was put out of commission for seven months. Since his injuries were fairly serious, Palmer spent the next few months in a shaky recovery process, but after a few years and four more fights under his belt, Palmer is now back to 100% and ready to bring his A game this Saturday.

Doors will open at 6pm on Saturday and the first bout starts at 7pm. Ringside tickets are priced at $65.00, and general admission tickets are $35.00. Tickets are on sale and available to purchase at www.ThePalladium.net, at the Palladium box office (general admission only), or by contacting Jose Rivera (elgallojar@gmail.com/508.864.6954), AJ Rivera (anthoneerivera@gmail.com/774.272.2269), or any of the fighters. Part of the proceeds will go to Make A Change Inc. If you’re a boxing fan, make sure you don’t miss this Saturday night’s event!
